In an effort to dodge the imminent censorship requests, I am posting the remainder of my photos from the Wittig’s visit.
No. I did not do a great job narrowing them down. Get cozy. I’m sure you have nothing better to do considering the high in Minneapolis today was two degrees and I was busy wearing flip flops in Brazil.
Sorry. That was mean.
Catedral da Sé, New Year’s Day mass
Wasn’t. kidding.
São Paulo was EMP-TY… ‘I am Legend’ style.
Since our favorite ramen joint in Liberdade was closed for the holidays, we submitted to hunger pains and settled for whatever was across the street. Worst Chinese food EVER.
Four words: gravy covered chicken bones. Never again. SO sorry guys.
Parque Trianon lit up for Christmas
And… this here is how Lisa got invited back to Brazil.
Playing euchre with tasty coffee drinks at Santo Grão on Oscar Freire.
Please note my opening statement regarding incoming censorship requests.
Thank goodness Jonathan was there.
Hotel Unique, designed by Ruy Ohtake
Rooftop Skye Bar prior to the dinner rush… perfect timing for a sunset.
Immediate thought process:
This should be Jonathan’s facebook profile pic!!
…
Oh my goodness. I am such a jobless 14 year old.
Vila Mada.
Hairy lady armpits and Pee Wee Herman in perma-squat under display glass.
Well, that’s not weird.
From our first day exploring the market to our last few hours sampling juices, having you both here was a blast. You are welcome back anytime. Like, now.
Facebook profile picture!!!
My thought process runs similar (must be in the genes):
1. It is not mean to remind people of why the sun is great.
2. I will visit during a non-holiday season so I do not have to try gravy covered chicken bones (quail eggs are fine)
3. I still don’t know how to play most card games so you have a high chance of winning every hand with me
4. Must take me to Skye bar- depending on the strength to cost ratio, perhaps multiple times.
5. Why is the hairy armpit lady partying with a guy in tightie whities?
6. I want the wall of women behind Jonathan and Lisa.
7. I love coffee drinks and fruit drinks. And you know what else happens when the sun is out? Markets (another good thing to remind others of hehehe)
8. I agree with the recommendation for facebook profile pics, even better if they switch to that stupid timeline they can blow them up huge in the background pic!!!
Finally…. when I finally land my job and new place, I know you like to give gifts, so I am here and now requesting the picture in Lisa’s new facebook pic. Serious.
Hey lady! Love your response to this post
PLEASE come visit. How fun to have a cousin reunion down here… we would get along fabulously!
Yes, I could sit at the Skye Bar for hours just staring at the view (and people watching…)
Regarding the picture… it might have to be a DIY since I could afford NOTHING in that store!
Let Jonathan find the biggest guy in Brazil and sit in his lap.
That doesn’t make any sense Tim…
???

Hi Peg! I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months already
I love seeing what other expats are up to… getting ideas for vacations and hearing they have the same troubles as we do. Thanks for including me!
